Yesterday, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, a six-person jury found Matthew Bernal (32) guilty of two class one misdemeanor offenses: Assault in the Third Degree and Obstruction of Telephone Service.
The case involved an act of domestic violence in which Mr. Bernal struck his significant other multiple times in the face and prevented a call for help. A class one misdemeanor in Colorado carries a potential sentence of up to 365 days in the Pueblo County Jail.
Mr. Bernal is scheduled to be sentenced on May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
