Pueblo’s 2026 Public Health Champion Announced During National Public Health Week

April 6, 2026 - The Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment (PDPHE) announced Pueblo Water as the 2026 Public Health Champion for displaying significant contributions to Pueblo’s public health. The award is given in celebration of public health excellence during National Public Health Week, recognized during the first week of April.

“Congratulations to hardworking team at Pueblo Water for their well-deserved recognition as public health role models in the Pueblo community. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to promoting the health of your community by providing life’s most vital resource on a daily basis,” stated Randy Evetts, public health director at the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment.

Pueblo Water assures the residents of Pueblo County, and the surrounding region has a sufficient supply of clean water, which prevents disease and promotes health by giving every person access to hydration and nutrition absorption. Recently, Pueblo Water also renovated the dilapidated dam below City Park to reduce the risk of water-related injuries and drownings and created a state-of-the-art water park amenity for the community, encouraging outdoor recreation and activity.

Pueblo Water joins past Public Health Champions in receiving this prestigious award:

2025    Boys & Girls Club of Pueblo County

2024    Eva Cosyleon

2023    Sheena Archuleta
