Pueblo West Roads

  • In November 2022, Pueblo West residents approved a ballot measure to allow the collection of a $.01 (one cent) sales tax for road maintenance. The initiative will collect up to $5 million annually for the purpose of maintaining, repairing, and improving roads as well as associated drainage and stormwater features in Pueblo West.
  • In January 2023, The Pueblo County Government officially took over the maintenance and improvement of the roads in Pueblo West due to the ballot measure passed. If you are a citizen of Pueblo West and would like to report an issue for a Pueblo West road, please call our Pueblo County West office at (719)583-6060. What is the road grading process?

Road grading is part of our routine road maintenance program. Using a motor grader, our road crews smooth the driving surface, remove washboards, fill uneven areas, and rebuild the crown (small high point) so water drains away from the roadway. This helps prevent erosion and prolongs the life of the road.

What is the water truck used for?

The water truck is used before and during grading to add moisture to the road surface. Adequate moisture:

  • Improves cutting and mixing of gravel and soil.
  • Reduces dust.
  • Allow the material to pack and compact properly.
  • Produces a more stable and longer lasting surface.
